Take Action: Say thank you for funding clean water!

The thousands of rivers and streams in our communities are part of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed and supply the Washington, D.C. metro region with a network of drinking water, food, jobs, and recreation for all 6 million of us. Unfortunately, the President’s proposed budget would eliminate the EPA’s Chesapeake Bay Program, a vital source of funding and coordination for restoration efforts throughout our region. There is a ray of hope though: The entire Congressional delegation from the Washington, DC metro region supports full funding for the program. Please join Audubon Naturalist Society in thanking our elected officials for lending their public support for clean water!

Please look in the list below for your elected official’s names and call them via the Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121. All our local Members of Congress (meaning everyone in the list below) has publicly called for funding the Bay Program, so let’s thank them! After you call, please use the form at right to let us know how it went. You can use the script below when you call:

“Hi, my name is _____ and I’m a constituent who lives in _______ [town name]. As a member of Audubon Naturalist Society who cares about clean water and healthy communities in the Washington, DC metro region, I’m calling to thank you for supporting full and level funding for the EPA’s Chesapeake Bay Program. The Chesapeake Bay watershed provides drinking water for every single one of our region’s residents. Thank you for standing up for our water, our land, our food, our jobs, and our Bay!”
