The Anacostia Park Draft Management Plan examines four alternatives for managing one of Washington, DC’s largest and most important parks for the next 15 to 20 years. ANS members and supporters consider Anacostia Park and its constituent parts a valuable community resource, and support managing it in such a way as to maintain principles of natural area (habitat) protection, water quality, and public access to green space and the riverfront.
ANS joins its colleagues in many other environmental organizations in supporting Alternative 4 in the management plan and stresses the importance of prioritizing water quality as an essential goal alongside habitat protection and recreation access.
